Giant beans With Cod


  • 400 gr giant beans Voion
  • 2 leeks
  • 2 chives
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 potato
  • 1 dry onion
  • 1/2 celery root
  • 1/2 bunch celery
  • a little dill
  • 250 gr wet salted cod
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 lemons
  • salt
  • pepper


Giants beans with cod can be made without fish. All materials exactly as in the following execution without the cod. But it gives extra flavor to this wonderful food.

We soak the giant beans from the previous day. Drain them and boil them in a pot with plenty of water, over medium heat, for about 40 minutes to soften without melting and without dissolving. We drain.

Cut all the vegetables into thin slices.

Heat 3-4 tablespoons of the total olive oil in a saucepan and sauté all the vegetables except the green leaves of the spring onions, for 4-5 minutes on high heat. Add hot water to cover the ingredients. Season with salt and pepper and boil for 15 ′ to soften the potato slices.

Finally, add the giant beans, the herbs, the green leaves of the onions and the celery. Put it all together in a pan. At this stage the food has a little juice, almost to the middle of the ingredients. If it has evaporated in the boil, add a little hot water. Pour over with the remaining olive oil and bake in a preheated oven for 20 minutes.

Then, we cut the cod into pieces and put it inside the giants. Put lemon slices on the surface of the pan.

Continue baking for an additional 10 minutes until the pan drinks all its liquids and is left with almost no oil and a little thick sauce, like oily.
