BULGUR

What it is:  Oatmeal is a cereal and not a pasta and is made from many different types of wheat, but mainly from durum wheat. It is the product of the wheat kernel, since it has been heat treated, dried and crushed.

Oatmeal is rich in protein, fiber and complex carbohydrates. It has a low glycemic index which means that after consuming it raises blood glucose more gently and has a high saturation index, which means it satisfies you more than other carbohydrates.

It is often found in cuisines of Europe, the Middle East and India.

Oatmeal was a staple food of the ancient Greeks and is a key ingredient in the Mediterranean Diet.  In recent years, however, it has reappeared as a superfood and lovers of healthy eating have loved it. superfood and lovers of healthy eating have loved it.

RECIPE

TABOULE SALAD WITH BULGUR

  • 1 cup bulgur
  • 1 bunch of parsley
  • 1 large tomato
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 large onion
  • 4 spoons of olive oil
  • Juice of a lemon
  • Salt / Pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

Put 2 glasses of water in the pot to boil. Add the bulgur and mix well so it doesn't stick. Once the water is absorbed, remove from the heat and cover with the lid for 30'. Chop the parsley and onion and mix with the semolina mixture. Add oil, salt and lemon juice. It is served as a side dish for main dishes.
